E C C E N T R I C K!? :)

The art show was so siiiccckkkk!!!! I think I must have gone through it at least 7 times =)
Going through it so many times, the part that never really got boring to me was the movies. Probably because I made sure to see a new one almost each time =P. Facebook stalker and producer stop death (or something like that) were so funny!! I watched both of them a few times. Also, I thought the grade 10 multiple exposure stuff and the collage-face people things were cool… ‘cuz you know, I made one too. The hip-hop culture thing or whatever it was supposed to be was alright. I was hoping the would have a big was or canvas full of graffiti, but oh well. There was this thing where it was a picture of Mary Ward or Mother Teresa (or some kind of religious woman) and when you looked up close the things that composed the elements of the portrait were smaller picture of stuff, hard to explain but It was cool =)
Despite how cool the art show was, there were small things that could have made it better. Things like making sure the art stayed up and didn’t fall, insuring that people didn’t go through the wrong doors, and other small things like that that could be fixed would make the art show so much better if they were. Other than that I think I would be safe to say that the art show was super cool and that I can wait until next year’s =D

I love technology!!
Yaaa, it's probably is true that we have become completely reliant on technology, and have raised our standards for things but... so what?? With the rate that technology is advancing and all the promises companies make, why shouldn’t we expect a lot? This isn’t the seventies or sixties anymore, this in the twenty-first century!!! That means that computers have now become a part of all North American life and that we should learn to adapt with ever stiffening pace that technology is advancing at. It doesn’t mean that we have to drop everything non-computer related; just that we should all learn how to use a computer fluently. Anybody trying to slow down the rise of computers or civilized society’s reliance on technology is kinda dumb. Why would you even want to stop something designed to help make our lives easier?

Technology is a very important aspect of my life. Almost everything I do in connected to some form of technology somehow. In fact, technology has become such a big part of my life that, if you took my desktop away from me, I would know what to do with myself. from the time I come home from school to the time I go to bed I’m on my computer... for the most part at least. Thinking about when my mom was young, and her telling me stories of how she didn’t even have a computer in the Philippines, I don’t know how they did anything at all! =P
if there was one piece of technology I think I would want to be created, it would have to be a some kind of automatic floor cleaner/sweeper/waxer thing that cleans your floor for you. That way i wouldn’t have to clean up the messes I make around the house. =)

Cellular Telephones :)

From the simple Nokia 3310 to the iPhone, cell phones are getting more and more complicated and complex as each new generation of cell phone comes along. With this complexity comes demand, and as each new generation comes along the demand to own these sophisticated trinkets goes up. Along with the simple phone call, almost all modern phones are capable of text messaging, video calls, internet usage, gaming, and of course instant messaging. But with all of these options to stay in touch and communicate with friends, people seem to be spending more and more time on their cell phones. As the number of people owning cell phones goes up each year, the amount of manners associated with owning these desired pieces of technology goes down. Because of this, I am have constructed a list of rules to follow when you own a cell phone.

Rule 1: cell phones should be turned off during work and class as to avoid distraction. Also, while at work or school you full attention should be devoted to the task at hand, and by leaving your cell phones on, you’re not only distracting yourself, but you are also disturbing others.

Rule 2: cell phones should be turned off while driving. When using cell phone while you are driving, not only are you splitting your attention to the road in half, but you are also becoming a threat to both you and all of the other drivers on the road. When behind the wheel your undivided attention should be on the road because what conversation could be important enough to risk your life for?

Rule 3: while in public, you should not play music out loud from your phone. It is inconsiderate to those around you who do not share the same taste in music as you, as they might find the music that you are playing to be annoying.

Rule 4: When using your cell phone be mindful of your surroundings. Keeping a civil tone and using an “indoor voice” are some simple things you could do to up hold this rule. Watching your tongue and holding back from cussing and using inappropriate words too accessibly are things you could also do.

Rule 5: Be aware of where you are. Be sure to use the appropriate ringer volume, or to keep your phone on vibrate or silent, as it can be very rude if your cell phone rings when an area is supposed to be silent.

Cell phones have swiftly become a part of average everyday life. Because of this, these rules should be held as a guide line at the least to help maintain a respectful way to go about modern life.

Colossal U?!

Dang.
When I first read the Colossal U ads I was confused and though that there was some kind of trick to it. I read the words backwards, from top to bottom, bottom to top, and looked REALLY HARD at the pictures but still didn’t understand what I was seeing. That’s when I just thought they were trying to promote an average university that wasn’t too difficult to get admitted to or something like that. I guess this is a good way to get people’s attention, but I was so confused! Who would want to demote their own university and bring down their image?

It was only when I visited the website: http://www.colossalu.com/, that I started to understand what was happening. :) The ads were in fact just a way to grab people’s attention and make them curious about this bizarre and abnormal Colossal U. These ads were just getting people to visit their website where they were promoting the REAL thing, Algoma University. Colossal U and Algoma U ended up being complete opposites of each other, one promoted uniqueness in all students, and using each students knowledge to its fullest potential, and the other promoted students all following the same path like a flock of sheep. The website claimed that Algoma was an institute where students could reach their full potential and use their knowledge to its fullest extent. It was actually relieving to finally understand what was happening.

I’ve never seen this type of advertising used before. I believe though, that it is a very risky form of indorsing something. The pros to this type of advertising is that it grabs people’s attention and makes them curious about what is being advertised, but on the other hand, some people might take the ad too literally and not bother to visit the website. Overall, I think this form of advertising was a success for Algoma University and an interesting thing to see for me as well. =)

Gaming Gone WILD! =P

In my opinion, video games are honestly the greatest invention in entertainment history. =)
Video games have exponentially increased in value and desirability with the coming of the new century. With the invention of new and better software you would expect as much though.

I think the reason that so many people are becoming bigger gamers these days are because of the new and vast variety of video games out there. Before there were only platform games, from those platform games lead to the birth of RPG’s (Role Play Games) and FPS’ (First Person Shooters). Then from there with the birth of the new century came the rising of the many different game genres there are today. People look negatively at video games and just see them as a waste of young people’s time. This statement is a very biased and uninformed one. There are many video games out there that help to improve how quickly your mind works or teach you interesting fact and answers to many interesting question. Games such as Big Brain Academy, Brain Training, Dr. Brain, and Chessmaster are just some of the many games that help try to improve how well you think or improve certain skills.

Even though video games are great, there is a time when even I have to put down the controller and pick up some units. At times its really hard to after playing a great game, especially when my mind makes up my great excuses such as: I’ll do it later; it’s not that important; this is WAY cooler; and of course, just a bit longer. I play video games quite often and would say I’m quite informed about the gaming world, so I know exactly which games to play so I don’t end up wasting my time playing rubbish games. =P

Wii is for soft-core/casual gamers.
PS3 is more for average gamers.
360 is for average to hardcore serious gamers, and of course I have access to all three systems. :D
I would say that 360 has the best line up of games at their disposal. With big franchise name such as Halo, Gears of War, Fable, and many more it’ll be hard for PS3 to catch up with their game deficit. PS3 only has a few bigger names like Final Fantasy, God of War, and Metal gear solid. Wii isn’t even close to a reasonable amount of good games because all they have is the “Mario Branded” games to work with. However, Wii has a few exceptional games on their side, such as Zelda: Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and Metriod is alright.


To all the gamers out there: GET AT ME! =D kiiding!

The Campaign Trail =)

When I first saw the second commercial I was very confused. =\

I hadn't seen the first commercial and wasn't sure what I was supposed to be looking at. I then went on to youtube.com and saw the first video and it started to make more sence. =)

When I found out more about what this commercial was supposed to be conveying I was quite intrigued. I thought it was very intelligent for Mr. Barack Obama to remake the original "Wazzup!" video to portray what he want to make happen if he were to be elected. This commercial was very effective because it used comedy to attract people’s attention and then they put one of Barack Obama’s bigger slogans for his campaign, "change", at the end of the commercial to leave a lasting impression.

As we all should know, Mr. Barack Obama has won the presidential election. This is a very good thing for some, and very bad for others. His prime focus is on helping the lower and middle class citizens because of the economical recession, but because of this, he is taxing the upper class citizens of America. Anyone in America who makes more than a quarter million a year are affected by his new taxes. Of course these people are outraged with this and wish that Mr. John McCain had won. Unfortunately for them, the majority of the country see a better America in the hands of Barack Obama, just as I do. =)

Just because Obama has won, doesn’t mean he is in the clear. All eyes are on Barack, especial since he is the first black president. If he makes any bad moves, the media will overinflate them and make them seem worse than they actually are. Barack should take caution in knowing this, and not make any high risk moves for the first half of his term.
